How would you react?

I was sitting on the ferry this morning and a lady was trying to sit down in one of the table seats. All the others seats at this table were already taken and as she was sitting down she tripped and spilt one of the mans coffees. It went everywhere - made a huge mess, some even spilt on the mans black pants but what truly amazed me was everyone’s reactions.

From the 5 people sitting there all of them got angry, huffed different things under their breath and each walked away. Literally left the area!!! Not ONE person said to her ‘it’s ok’, ‘it happens’ or offered to help clean it up. They seriously all left the table while the ferry crew cleaned it up and no one came back.

Yes it’s an unfortunate situation and sure they lost their seat or got some coffee spilt on them but it’s always important to just stop and think ‘will this bother me in an hour?’ or ‘will this bother me tomorrow?’ And of course it won’t! Plus all I could think about was how the lady felt. She was really apologetic and obviously felt terrible, especially with an entire ferry looking at her and then she ended up having to sit at the table by herself the remainder of the ride.

REMEMBER your single reaction can change an entire situation. Plus, those people have already set the intention of how their day has started. We all have the power to change any situation with our reactions and how we each perceive the moment at hand. What will you choose? Just something to take note of.
